About London Mover

Who plans your move, and where we work from

A plain account of the company: the office, the moves we take on and the ones we turn down, and what happens between your first call and the last box.

Where is the London Mover office?

London Mover’s office is at 39 Paddington Street, London W1U 4HH, on the stretch of Paddington Street that runs between Baker Street and Marylebone High Street. It is where enquiries are answered, surveys are booked and each move is planned, from the parking at the first address to the paperwork for the last. It is an office rather than a depot or a warehouse: there is no drop-off counter and no walk-in storage on the premises, so please do not bring belongings there. Most planning conversations happen by phone or video call, because the thing we most need to see is your home, not our desk. If you would rather talk face to face, ring first and we will arrange a time. Marylebone is also the patch we know best on foot. Mansion blocks with porters, mews tucked behind the main streets and the red route along Marylebone Road are ordinary conditions here, and they shape how we plan moves in every other part of the city.

What does London Mover do, and what does it not do?

We move homes and offices within London, whether that is one street over or from Enfield to Croydon, and we take households from London to other parts of the UK on a long-distance move. Storage is a collected service: we pack and collect your belongings, record them on an inventory, keep them for you and deliver them back when you are ready, often as one move-and-store booking. It is not self-storage. There is no key, no unit to visit and nothing for you to drive anywhere. Abroad, the list is short and fixed: France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. No other country is on it, so if you are heading anywhere else we will say so on the first call rather than leave you waiting. Nor do we price a job before we understand both buildings, because in London the stairs, the lift and the kerb outside decide the crew and the vehicle far more often than the mileage does.

The detail for each kind of move sits on its own page: removals in London, storage, all services and international removals.

How is a move run, from first call to last box?

1. You get in touch

Use the quote form, ring the office or send an email with the two addresses and a short description of the household or office being moved.

2. The survey

Either at the property or over a video call, going room by room, then the access at each end: stairs, lifts, parking and any building rules.

3. You receive the quote

Built from the survey, not from a guess. Nothing is booked until you accept it.

4. We sort the access

We confirm the date, check whether a parking bay suspension is needed, and tell you what the building needs booking on your side, such as a goods lift or porter.

5. Packing, if you chose it

The crew wraps furniture, packs cartons and labels each one by room before anything is loaded.

6. Move day

Floors and shared halls are protected, the vehicle is loaded and driven, and furniture goes into the rooms you name, rebuilt where we took it apart.

7. Anything that follows

If part of the move goes into storage or continues abroad, the same contact at the office stays with it until the last delivery.

What is in a London Mover quote?

The quote is the document the move is run from, so it lists everything the crew will turn up expecting to do. When the day itself throws up something unexpected, the quote is what we both go back to.

  • Both addresses, with the access notes taken at the survey for each end.
  • The inventory or volume the price is based on.
  • The crew and the vehicle we plan to send.
  • The packing, materials, dismantling and reassembly you have chosen.
  • Any parking suspension or road charge that applies to the route.
  • Storage arrangements, where part of the move is being stored.
  • The level of goods-in-transit cover, how items are valued and any exclusions.

How does goods-in-transit cover work?

Goods-in-transit cover applies while your belongings are in our hands: while they are carried out, loaded, driven and unloaded. The level of cover, how items are valued and anything excluded are all stated on your quote, so they are in front of you before you agree to anything. Items you pack yourself can be treated differently from items our crew packs, and the quote says how. Anything valued above the standard level, such as a painting, an antique or an instrument, should be listed when you first enquire, so the cover can be arranged at its real value. If anything arrives damaged, tell us promptly; the claims process is set out in our terms.
